Alberto Contador is set to come out of retirement for one final race, taking part in the inaugural Tour de France Shanghai Criterium later this month.
Contador will face one last showdown with Tour de France champion Chris Froome (Team Sky) who will also take to the start line on the 29th October.
Cycling fans will have one more chance to see the Spaniard in the flesh after the rider initially finished his career at the Vuelta a Espana in September.
In typical Contador fashion, the rider waved goodbye to his adoring fans with a stage victory at the summit of the feared Alto de l'Angliru on the penultimate day of the race.
Besides 'El Pistolero', the crowd will be able to watch Warren Barguil (Team Sunweb) and Marcel Kittel (Quick-Step Floors) as well as Tour de France runner-up Rigoberto Uran (Cannondale-Drapac).
A week after the Shanghai Criterium will be the fifth edition of the Saitama Criterium in Japan.
This year will see the first time Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) takes to the start line as well as Paris-Roubaix winner Greg Van Avermaet (BMC Racing).
Both will be looking to return to Japan in 2020 for the Tokyo Olympics with Cavendish targeting potential gold on the track in the Madison and Van Avermaet looking to defend his road race title.
