British cyclocross champion Nikki Brammeier and husband and Aqua Blue Sport rider Matt Brammeier have teamed up to launch a new cyclocross project and team called Mudiiita.
This new initiative formulated by the Brammeiers plans to increase UK cyclocross participation, creating a pathway for riders to reach the professional ranks through clinics, coaching programmes and a rider academy.
The project will also comprise of a professional cyclocross team thanks to a partnership with Canyon. Nikki Brammeier will race underneath the Mudiita Canyon Pro Team name as of 1st January, using the new Canyon Inflite CF SLX cyclocross bike.
Cyclocross has seen a surge in Britain thanks to a rise in young British talent including Tom Pidcock and Evie Richards.
Pidcock has taken cyclocross by storm over the last twelve months, taking the National, European and World Junior titles before making his elite debut at 18-years-old this season.
Evie Richards took her first World Cup victory at Namur this weekend at only 20-years old.
This sudden success is something that Brammeier believes can be utilised, improving cyclocross in the UK.
Brammeier wrote on the Mudiiita web page, 'Over the last few years, we have started to see some of the depth of talent coming through the ranks of the UK cross scene but we think there's huge potential to be more,' Nikki said.
'With the thousands of kids racing each weekend, there must be more than one Tom Pidcock! If the Belgians can make cyclocross a mainstream sport then whats stopping the UK?.'
The project is due to kickstart in the UK with its first 'Skillz 'N Drillz' session on 1st January.
