Catlike Cloud 352 helmet
Catlike have stayed true to their renowned penchant for ventilation holes, and incorporated over 300 of them into the new aero Cloud 352 helmet. The top cap is actually bolted onto the helmet, with the thinking being that because there are so many, the air is channelled efficiently over the top, while still allowing some ventilation. A solid cover is also available, and it's even possible to run the helmet with no cover at all. UK pricing is TBC, but the helmet is priced at $180 in the US.
CycleOps Hammer turbo trainer
CycleOps have released the latest weapon in their indoor trainer arsenal, the direct-mount 'Hammer'. It's highly compatible across regular quick release and thru-axle bikes, and performance-wise does very well compared to its main competitors on paper, with a maximum power output of 2000 W, maximum incline of 20%, and a 64 dba noise level. The price? £1,1000.
Rapha Pro Team Flyweight glasses
Not long after the launch of their Core range, Rapha have released a new addition to their closet - a pair of sunglasses. The style combines that of the in-fashion marques of the day, with simple frames, bold shapes, and a large lens. The skimpy 25g glasses will be vailable in four frame colours, with the added option of four additional Carl Zeiss lenses, from £140.
Velobici Verne jersey and bibshorts
Velobici's gear is both designed and manufactured in Leicestershire, and their latest table-topping partnership is the Verne jersey and bibshorts. The jersey is available in either gold or 'cannon grey', is made from a meryl/lycra mix fabric, and features the simple, bold branding of the Velobici 'VB' and 'Verne' in woolen stitching. The shorts offer a similarly minimalist design, but despite the semi-retro image, maintain modernity with drops of technology like flatlock seams. The jersey retails at £150, while the bibshorts are £145.
Zirbel electronic grip shift
Swiss outfit Zirbel have gone where nobody has gone before with a component on their Velocity Racer road bike, and launched it with electronic grip shifting. The unit uses something called Magnetic Click Technology, and weighs between 16g and 19g depending on whether its paired with Shimano Di2, SRAM eTap or Campagnolo EPS. Although the units are currently only available on the bull-horned Zirbel bike, plans for an after-market version are afoot, with standalone costs TBC.
