We've had a think about who might win, surprise and disappoint at the 2018 Tour de France. You can let us know on Facebook and Twitter just how wrong you think we are.
Peter Muir, Editor
Yellow jersey: Nairo Quintana – Froome will be exhausted and the Colombian has a strong team around him
Green jersey: Peter Sagan – who else?
Polka dot jersey: Rafal Majka – he'll chase the hill points while the rest of the team supports Sagan
White jersey: Egan Bernal – Team Sky's new Colombian sensation
Team classification winners: Movistar – a team loaded with hitters
Rider with the most stage wins: Fernando Gaviria – (followed closely by LottoNL-Jumbo's Dylan Groenewegen)
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors
First yellow jersey: Fernando Gaviria – setting the tone for the rest of the race
Biggest surprise: Cav winning a stage (we always assume he's past it, and he always proves us wrong)
Biggest disappointment: Geraint Thomas crashing out on the first stage
Jack Elton-Walters, Website Editor
Yellow jersey: Romain Bardet
Green jersey: Peter Sagan
Polka dot jersey: Mikel Landa
White jersey: Adam Yates
Team classification winners: Movistar
Rider with the most stage wins: Peter Sagan
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors
First yellow jersey: Marcel Kittel
Biggest surprise: Zero rest day doping positives
Biggest disappointment: Chris Froome’s podium finish
Joe Robinson, Web Writer
Yellow jersey: The Shark Nibali, of course. Any time lost in the TTT he gets back on the cobbles and then he makes an all out assault in the Pyrenees to grab yellow from Porte
Green jersey: Sagan will take back what’s his
Polka dot: A resurgent and resplendent Fabio Aru, or Danni Navarro
White jersey: Egan Bernal hands down! (If he goes). If not Pierre-Rog Latour
Team classification: Movistar surely! They have Quintana, Valverde, Landa and Soler!
Rider with the most stage wins: Gaveria and Groenewegen share the spoils
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step obviously! Anything less that five stages is a failure
First yellow jersey: Gronewegen will pip Kittell and Gaviria in a messy old sprint
Biggest surprise: Primoz Roglic getting a top five and Bouhanni winning a stage (celebrates Mário Balotelli style with a “Why always me” t-shirt on the podium)
Biggest disappointment: Stage 17 will end up being a snooze fest because of Team Sky. Rider wise, Cavendish and Dimension Data in general. I feel a bad year will only get worse. Oh and Warren Barguil, Geraint Thomas and Marcel Kittell
Joseph Delves, Web Writer
Yellow jersey: Froome or Nibali. A long shot but having seen him mashing it up at Milan-San Remo I don’t think his slow start at the Dauphine is anything to worry about. Always capable over three weeks
Green jersey: Sagan, seems inevitable
Polka dot jersey: Romain Bardet. With a precocious talent, but an under-funded team Bardet will have to do it for himself in the mountains
White jersey: Egan Bernal, if Team Sky don't work him into the ground
Team classification winners: Movistar
Rider with the most stage wins: Sagan
Team with the most stage wins: Movistar
First yellow jersey: Fernando Gaviria
Biggest surprise: Valverde being Movistar’s strongest rider. With a tendency to let its boys fight amongst themselves, I don’t see much evidence that Quintana or Landa will end up the top dog at the Spanish superteam. Despite being more favoured by the bookies
Biggest disappointment: Tom Dumoulin. I can’t see his surprise decision to ride a second Grand Tour working out well
Rob Milton, Art Director
Yellow jersey: Richie Porte with a little bit of luck from Froome falling off on the cobbles
Green jersey: Sagan with ease
Polka dot jersey: Rigoberto Uran after a disastrous start decides to change focus and goes all in on the polka dots
White jersey: Someone from Astana
Team classification winners: Astana
Rider with the most stage wins: Gaviria
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors
First yellow jersey: Gaviria with a spectacular race ending crash by Cav
Biggest surprise: Bardet smashing the cobbled stage
Biggest disappointment: Stage 17’s grinding doing nothing as all GC guys sit up and wait for the pack to reshuffle and stick their guys on the front as usual
Martin James, Production Editor
Yellow jersey: Chris Froome - well, surely at least one of us should pick him?
Green jersey: Peter Sagan (copy and paste for this slot until at least 2020)
Polka dot jersey: Mikel Landa - after losing time riding for Quintana he'll bag a couple of stages in the final week to take the red dots
White jersey: Egan Bernal - the young Colombian is too good to look past
Team classification: Movistar - as mentioned by others, they have just too much GC quality
Rider with the most stage wins: Nobody will win more than two as the old and new guard of sprinters will be evenly matched, producing the most open sprint finishes for years...
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors - more than any other team, they can win any kind of mass start stage from any situation
First yellow jersey: Dylan Groenewegen - will start this year's Tour the way he ended last year's
Biggest surprise: The results of Stage 17 - the most experimental Tour stage for years will result in a major unforeseen GC curveball nobody saw coming
Biggest disappointment: Romain Bardet - sorry, Jack [:( ed.]
Peter Stuart, Commissioning Editor
Yellow jersey: Chris Froome - because that's life, kids
Green jersey: Peter Sagan - without taking a single stage win
Polka dot jersey: Simon Yates - Allez Yates!!
White jersey: Gianni Moscon...
Team classification winners: Team Sky
Rider with the most stage wins: Marcel Kittel
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors
First yellow jersey: Marcel Kittel
Biggest surprise: Dumoulin's dodgy prawn dinner
Biggest disappointment: The complete accuracy of my yellow jersey prediction
Sam Challis, Staff Writer
Yellow jersey: Richie Porte
Green jersey: Peter Sagan
Polka dot jersey: Rigoberto Uran
White jersey: Egan Bernal
Team classification winners: Movistar
Rider with the most stage wins: Fernando Gaviria
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors

Cyclist predictions: Who we're backing at the 2017 Tour de France
Here are our 2017 Tour de France predictions: how did we do?
While they’re not a patch on Sean Kelly when it comes to calling a race, the staff at Cyclist still love to pontificate about bicycle racing. Following some heated in-office debate here are the riders they’re backing this July.
Peter Muir, Editor
Yellow jersey: Richie Porte (BMC Racing). He's got the form, and his run of bad luck at the big races can't last forever. Plus, we love an underdog
Green jersey: Peter Sagan, obviously
Polka dot jersey: Thibaut Pinot (FDJ). The GC is probably beyond him after his ride at the Giro d'Italia, so this would be a nice consolation
White jersey: Simon Yates (Orica-Scott). He never seems to get any older
Team classification winners: Movistar. It's always Movistar, isn't it?
Rider with the most stage wins: Mark Cavendish (Dimension Data) - Unless he's not racing, in which case André Greipel (Lotto–Soudal)…
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors, strength in depth
First yellow jersey: Tony Martin (Katusha–Alpecin). A German winner for a German Grand Depart
Biggest surprise: Team Sky's Mikel Landa 'accidentally' dropping his team leader on the way to a stage win atop the Izoard
Biggest disappointment: Alberto Contador (Trek-Segafredo). He should have retired while he was at the top
Jack Elton-Walters, Website Editor
Yellow jersey: Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale). France needs a home winner and he's the man to do it
Green jersey: Peter Sagan (Bora–Hansgrohe), and for the rest of his career
Polka dot jersey: Nairo Quintana (Movistar), after giving up on the GC early on
White jersey: Simon Yates (Orica-Scott), because he can't be outdone by Adam's young rider win last year
Team classification winners: Movistar, small consolation for not getting yellow
Rider with the most stage wins: Sagan, on a range of parcours
Team with the most stage wins: Team Sunweb, it's their aim
First yellow jersey: Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo), by a whisker from Tony Martin (Katusha–Alpecin), spoiling the Grand Depart host nation's party
Biggest surprise: The number of different yellow jersey wearers
Biggest disappointment: Riders in the top-10 settling for minor places rather than attacking everyday in the final week
Joseph Delves, Web Writer
Yellow jersey: Barring an act of god I can’t see anyone getting around Chris Froome (Team Sky)
Green jersey: Peter Sagan (Bora–Hansgrohe), by a mile
Polka dot jersey: Esteban Chaves (Orica-Scott). Out of contention in the overall his team go after both white and polka dot jerseys
White jersey: Simon Yates (Orica-Scott)
Team classification winners: Movistar. A team of climbers in a Tour de France full of mountains
Rider with the most stage wins: Sagan. Or maybe Tony Martin (Katusha–Alpecin) if he can double up and win both time trials
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors, by gobbling up all the boring flat stages
First yellow jersey: Tony Martin
Biggest surprise: Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) outperforming his teammate Nairo Quintana
Biggest disappointment: Team Sky crush everyone and no one helps Richie Porte (BMC Racing), who drops off the podium as a result of being left to chase everything by himself
Rob Milton, Art Director
Yellow jersey: Chris Froome (Team Sky). Taken on all the descents rather than the climbs
Green jersey: Peter Sagan (Bora–Hansgrohe). Taken with ease
Polka dot jersey: Alejandro Valverde (Movistar)
White jersey: Simon Yates (Orica-Scott)
Team classification winners: Team Sky
Rider with the most stage wins: Peter Sagan (Bora–Hansgrohe)
Team with the most stage wins: Quick-Step Floors
First yellow jersey: Richie Porte (BMC Racing). He’ll hold it until his team buckles
Biggest surprise: BMC holding on to yellow for the first two weeks before they crack en masse
Biggest disappointment: The French not winning a stage
Martin James, Production Editor
Yellow jersey: Richie Porte (BMC Racing). Though only if he finally gets the luck to match his talent
Green jersey: Peter Sagan (Bora–Hansgrohe), just give it to him at the start and save the hassle of keeping count of the points
Polka dot jersey: Tommy Voeckler (Direct Énergie). OK it's unlikely, but wouldn't it be a lovely story if he rode off into the sunset wearing polka dots?
White jersey: Louis Meintjes (UAE-Emirates). He only missed out to Adam Yates (Orica-Scott) by two minutes last year, and is looking in good form
Team classification winners: Movistar - Quintana, Valverde, Anacona, Izaguirre, Moreno, Herrada... pick any three
Rider with the most stage wins: Just to be different: Nobody - there'll be a different winner every day.
What? It could happen
Team with the most stage wins: Quick Step Floors. Winning is what they do
First yellow jersey: Tony Martin (Katusha–Alpecin). He'll have been targeting this one all year
Biggest surprise: One of the wildcard teams doesn't try to get a rider up the road in the first 5km of every road stage in the first week
Biggest disappointment: Steve Cummings (Dimension Data) is caught just metres from the line after going clear at the start of the final lap on the Champs Elysees
Peter Stuart, Commissioning Editor
Yellow jersey: Romain Bardet (FDJ). Because strong, stable and predictable results haven't been the flavour of the last year
Green jersey: Peter Sagan (Bora–Hansgrohe), 'because f**k it, I want to do doughnuts
Polka dot jersey: Chris Froome (Team Sky). Every FroomeDog has its day (if not in the yellow jersey)
White jersey: Simon Yates (Orica-Scott). Having crushed his brother with the Flamme Rouge, the Tour owes some good fortune to family Yates
Team classification winners: Trek-Segafredo. A strong team on good bikes and perked up with ample caffeine
Rider with the most stage wins: Mark Cavendish (Dimensions Data). There are some punchy finishes and the Manx still has something to prove
Team with the most stage wins: Team Sky. With eight of the ten best riders in the world it would be hard not to
First yellow jersey: Sagan, a surprise long sprint to take the short prologue
Biggest surprise: A curious incident involving a spectator and a voluntary novelty selfie from the race leader
Biggest disappointment: Nairo Quintana (Movistar)
Sam Challis, Staff Writer
Yellow jersey: Chris Froome (Team Sky). Arguably the best descender in the world right now
Green jersey: Obviously Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe). Even if Pete Muir bet on him (above) he's so good he would still win
Polka dot jersey: Rafal Majka (Bora-Hansgrohe)
White jersey: Simon Yates (Orica-Scott)
Team classification winners: Movistar
Rider with the most stage wins: Marcel Kittel (Quick-Step Floors)
Team with the most stage wins: Dimension Data, largely thanks to Steve-o Cummings

Biggest surprise: Tony Martin opts for a 76-tooth one-by setup on the stage 20 time-trial
Biggest disappointment: Tommy Voeckler getting overhauled inches from the line after a 213km solo break in the 214km Stage 6 from Vesoul-Troyes. French hearts can be heard breaking all over the country
