UCI confirm registered British cyclocross team with Tom Pidcock as its marquee signing as he leaves Telenet-Fidea

Young cyclocross and road talent Tom Pidcock is set to leave professional cyclocross team Telenet-Fidea Lions a year early to join his own British team, registered to the company behind Team Wiggins.

On the list of professional cyclocross teams for the 2019 season, the UCI has listed a new team under the name of TP Racing, registered to Great Britain. The team has little in the way of information lacking a jersey or kit with just three confirmed British riders.

The riders listed are women's under 23 rider Emily Wadsworth, junior cyclocross World Championship silver medalist Dan Tullett and Pidcock.

It was then confirmed across Dutch media outlets that Pidcock would leave his contract with Telenet-Fidea through mutual consent and in good relations.

The new team is registered to the offices of London-based Trinty Sports Mangement. The company's director Andrew McQuaid is one of professional cycling's leading agents and also team manager of British Continental set up Team Wiggins, current road team of Pidcock.

Although there is little information beyond that, it appears that those in charge of Team Wiggins have made the efforts to bring Pidcock underneath the same team for both his road and cyclocross seasons. Riding under the name of 'TP Racing', it also appears that the young cycling talent is set to have the team named after him.

Pidcock has been regarded as British cycling's most promising talent for the past few seasons. The 19-year-old is already a multi-discipline World Champion taking the junior cyclocross World Champion and junior road time-trial World Champion titles in 2017.

The Yorkshireman has also taken Paris-Roubaix Juniors, the National Criterium Championships and overall UCI under-23 cyclocross World Cup in his short career.
