Geraint Thomas is the bookies' favourite to win the 2018 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award next month while fellow Grand Tour winners Chris Froome and Simon Yates languish behind with the also-rans.
The Tour de France champion has been made clear favourite with all major bookmakers to take the coveted title at the awards ceremony on Sunday 16th December.
Winning the Tour's yellow jersey in the summer, alongside the national time-trial championships and Criterium du Dauphine, propelled the Welshman into the public consciousness and he is now tipped to become the fourth cyclist in 10 years to take the title.
Thomas is being offered at prices as low as 6/4 leading the way from captain of England's World Cup semi-finallist football team, Harry Kane, and five-time Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton.
Appearances on BBC Radio and The One Show helped introduce the Thomas to non-cycling fans, with the public warming to the rider.
Thomas's stock is also set to rise this evening as he's a guest on The Graham Norton Show, alongside Stephen Fry and Nicole Kidman.
A victory for Thomas would mark a remarkable record for cyclists in the previous 10 years of the event. He would be the fourth cyclist to win the award in the last decade, with Chris Hoy (2008), Mark Cavendish (2011) and Bradley Wiggins (2012).
The 32-year-old would also become the fifth cyclist ever to take the title with Tom Simpson being the first in 1965.
Meanwhile, fellow Grand Tour winners Froome and Yates are trailing far behind Thomas with neither considered within the top 10 favourites despite their respective Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a Espana exploits.
Yates, who not only won the Vuelta but lit up the Giro with four stage wins, is currently priced at 50/1, the same as England football goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, and snooker world champion, Mark Williams.
Things are even bleaker for Froome, who despite taking an emphatic win at the Giro to become the first Brit ever to win pink and also take a third consecutive Grand Tour, is currently priced at a lowly 80/1.
This puts Froome at a price comparable to Any Murray, who has spent most of 2018 injured, and darts world champion, Rob Cross.
While Froome is unlikely to care about Sports Personality, it is interesting to note that despite four Tour titles, a Vuelta and now a Giro, the Team Sky rider has never podiumed at Sports Personality.
This year's awards will be hosted live from Birmingham's Genting Arena and will be the first year in which the shortlisted contenders for the title are announced on the night.
