London Revolution tackles 300km over two days (or one) mixing the historic roads of London and quiet lanes of the countryside

Registrations for one of the more interesting sportives have opened for 2019 with the Dulux London Revolution returning for an eighth year. The two-day event takes around 2,000 riders on a 300km loop of London next May, starting and finishing at the Lee Valley athletics centre.

With an overnight stop at Windsor Racecourse, the route combines some of London's most iconic landmarks, such as Tower Bridge and Crystal Palace, while also snaking through the country lanes of Surrey and the Thames Valley.

The sportive will take place from Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th May, dividing the distance into 160km on day 1 and 140km on day 2.

After negotiating Central London, day 1 will then offer some hilly terrain throughout the North Downs before finishing at Windsor Racecourse after 100 miles, where organisers will host food, showers, massages and even live music for riders and their families.

Day 2 will be slightly easier at just 85 miles in length, taking riders into the Chiltern Hills before looping through Epping Forrest to end the event, completing the 360-degree ride.

The event also offers its Ultra distance providing a package for cyclists looking to really push the boundaries. This combines both days into one, asking riders to complete the 300km, 360-degree loop in one ride.

To put this into perspective, the Ultra distance is 6km longer than the single longest single day of riding in the professional calendar, Milan-San Remo.

Alongside the ballot-entry RideLondon, the London Revolution is also one of the few organised sportives to navigate the streets of London, and while that may seem like a traffic-filled nightmare to some, which it usually is during the week, can actually make for pleasant riding at weekends.

Entries for the two-day event cost £199 for riders, including camping, and £109 without, while the Ultra distance costs £149. Alternatively, riders can choose to take part in just one of the day's riding for £59. All entries can be found here.
