Three new teams enter ProContinental level including team of Mathieu Van der Poel

The 18 WorldTour teams for the 2019 season have been confirmed by the UCI with only the one new team, as changes are seen in the ProContinental ranks.

As was already known, Polish budget shoe brand CCC has stepped up its sponsorship from the ProContinental ranks to replace the disappearing BMC Racing for next season.

CCC has also assumed much of BMC Racing's roster and staff base with the Swiss bike brand withdrawing from primary sponsorship.

CCC will also be aboard new bike sponsor Giant which replaces the formerly eponymous BMC bikes and ride in Etxeondo kit instead of Assos, which moves across to Dimension Data.

The UCI also confirmed the name changes to two further WorldTour teams. As of January, Quick-Step Floors will have their name preceded by Deceuninck as the PVC window and door company agreed to take the responsibility of primary sponsor from Quick-Step, helping stem Patrick Lefevere's financial worries.

Dutch team LottoNL-Jumbo also gets a name change with the team now called Team Jumbo, as the Dutch lottery company steps down from its primary sponsor role.

Interestingly, while 17 of next season's WorldTour teams were handed their licence by the UCI, UAE-Team Emirates had their registration accepted by the Licence Commission.

As for the ProContinental teams, there are a few more noticeable changes as three new teams enter while some depart.

The team of cyclocross star Mathieu Van der Poel, Corendon-Circus, have been granted a ProContinental road licence which should help the Dutchman explore his ambitions of racing successfully in the Spring Classics next season.

Portuguese team W52/FC Porto have also been granted the step up from Continental level. This team have previously dominated on the domestic scene. Danish team, Riwal Readynez, have also been granted a ProContinental space.

Additionally, Spanish team Burgos-BH have been retained despite two riders failing doping tests within a 12 month period.

No longer in the ProConti ranks will be Aqua Blue Sport - following their unceremonious capitulation earlier this season - and American teams, UnitedHealthcare and Holowesko-Citadel.

Dutch team Roompot will also combine with Verandas Willems-Crelan to create Roompot-Charles.
