CCC will be first in line to poach former World Champion Michal Kwiatkowski from Team Sky if the team is unable to find a new sponsor for 2020.
The British WorldTour team's future is in doubt after broadcaster Sky announced it would be withdrawing from cycling at the end of the 2019 season. Team manager Dave Brailsford is currently trying to find a replacement with the hope of retaining its current roster.
However, if unable to find a suitor, the complete roster could find itself on the cycling transfer market leaving several lucrative contracts up for grabs which have already piqued the interest of WorldTour newcomers, Polish-registered CCC.
Talking to Polish media, CCC sports director Piotr Wadecki stated that it is the team's aim to acquire the pro peloton's top Polish talent, with Kwiatkowski number one on the list.
'The acquisition of Kwiatkowski was our priority from the start, but we knew that he had a two-year contract. Getting him will not be an easy task,' Wadecki told TVP.
'We want the CCC team to be Polish, not only through its license and main sponsor but also through riders who come from our country. Our goal is to get the best Polish cyclists to ride in our orange jerseys.'
Kwiatkowski's former teammate and fellow Pole, Lukas Wisniowski, made the switch to CCC in the off-season and it looks likely that the 2017 Milan-San Remo champion could follow suit if Brailsford is unsuccessful in his search for a new backer.
The team has also been linked with Bora-Hansgrohe's Polish trio Rafal Majka, Maciej Bodnar and Pawel Pojanski.
Another Team Sky rider that could find himself racing in the orange of CCC by 2020 is current Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas.
The Welshman was offered a contract by CCC this summer and is said to have considered their offer before settling on a lucrative three-year deal with Team Sky rumoured to be worth £3.5million a year.
While Thomas has expressed his desire to continue on with Team Sky after 2019, if the team was to fold, it would be of no surprise if CCC were to table another offer with the still looking to employ a General Classification rider for the Grand Tours.
