Wout van Aert will make his Grand Tour debut at the Tour de France next month as Primoz Roglic misses out on a spot with the Jumbo-Visma team.
Van Aert is currently racing the Criterium du Dauphine before heading to the Tour, one of his final races on the road before reverting back to his winter cyclocross schedule.
Team director Merijn Zeeman stated that 'Wout is ready for this next step' and that 'he makes our team stronger' following a reduced number of race days on the road.
Zeeman also confirmed Van Aert would race the RideLondon-Surrey one-day race before turning his attention to cyclocross for the autumn.
The highly-rated three-time cyclocross World Champion Van Aert will form part of a strong Jumbo-Visma team at the Tour de France that will split its resources between fighting for the General Classification with Steven Kruisjwijk and sprint wins with Dylan Groenewegen.
Kruisjwijk rode to fifth overall at last year's Tour while riding in support of team leader Roglic, who eventually finished fourth. Kruisjwijk then backed up his impressive Tour ride with fourth overall at the Vuelta a Espana later that summer.
The 32-year-old Dutchman will now be awarded the chance to fight for his own ambitions as the team confirmed Roglic would skip the Tour having battled to third at the Giro d'Italia last month.
Supporting Kruisjwijk in the mountains will be George Bennett and Laurens De Plus, who recovers from an illness that saw him abandon the Giro d'Italia on Stage 7.
Beyond their GC ambitions, three-time stage winner Groenewegen will be on the hunt for sprint victories.
The fast finisher will go in as a favourite to dominate the race's sprint finishes and will have the support of a strong lead out team.
Alongside Van Aert, in-form Mike Teunissen, talented Norwegian Amund Jansen and multiple time trial World Champion Tony Martin will provide the firepower needed for Groenewegen to hunt for wins.
