Movistar have today revealed that reigning Giro d’Italia champion Richard Carapaz and multiple Grand Tour stage winner Mikel Landa will lead their team at the OVO Energy Tour of Britain.
Both riders will be making their debut at the week long stage race, with the occasion marking 29-year-old Landa’s first time competing on British soil - despite formerly competing for Team Sky.
The pair will add some grandeur to the already impressive list of riders set to take the start line this Saturday in Glasgow, boasting an extensive list of honours between them.
Besides Carapaz’s Grand Tour triumph, the Ecuadorian has won the Vuelta a Asturias twice and Vuelta a Navarra once. Landa, moreover, claimed the overall title in the Giro del Trentino and Tour of Burgos.
Joining them for Movistar will be Andrey Amador - who himself has finished inside the top 10 of the Giro twice - Carlos Barbero, Eduardo Sepulveda and Carlos Verona in what looks to be the strongest line-up the Spanish racing giants have ever selected for the race.
Already confirmed amongst other teams are former Tour of Britain winners Dylan van Baarle (2014) and Steve Cummings (2016), exciting talent Mathieu van der Poel, as well as sprinters Mark Cavendish, Dylan Groenewegen and Matteo Trentin.
