Reports suggest that Strade Bianche on 1st August will be the first major road race once coronavirus restrictions are lifted. Belgian public broadcaster RTBF has released a provisional men's professional racing calendar which it claims has been sent by the UCI to the 19 WorldTour teams.
On that calendar, it starts with Strade Bianche on Saturday 1st August as the first followed by a shortened, four-day Criterium du Dauphine in the second week of August. Milan-San Remo would then be hosted on Saturday 8th August.
Carrying on, the calendar suggests that the rescheduled Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix would all clash with the new dates set in October for the Giro d'Italia.
According to this report, the Giro would take place from 3rd to 25th October. During this time, Liege would take place on Sunday 4th, Flanders on Sunday 18th and Roubaix on Sunday 25th.
That would also see the Giro conflict with the rescheduled Amstel Gold Race and Gent-Wevelgem, set for 10th and 11th October respectively.
The latest race to be held this year, according to these rumours, would be the Vuelta a Espana which is claimed to have a start date of Sunday 1st November.
Currently, the only races to have been given confirmed dates are the Tour de France, National Championships and World Championships, all set out by the UCI last week.
The UCI announced the Tour de France would be pushed back from its 27th June start date to the 29th August with the race ending in Paris on Sunday 20th September. Each country would also host its individual national championships on 22nd and 23rd August.
The organising body also confirmed that the UCI World Championships in Aigle-Martigny, Switzerland would retain their original dates of 20th to 27th September.
Additionally, while the UCI and respective race organisers may announce dates for the rescheduled races now, they are completely reliant upon individual countries lifting coronavirus measures.
In France, for example, sports minister Roxana Maracineanu has already threatened that there may be no public sports events in France for the remainder of 2020, ending any hope of a rearranged Tour.
