Bob Jungels will leave Deceuninck-QuickStep at the end of the season to join AG2R La Mondiale.
The 27-year-old will team up with fellow new signing Greg Van Avermaet at the French team on a two-year deal helping to bolster the team's Spring Classics line up.
Luxemburger Jungels brings an end to his five-year stay at Patrick Lefevere's team which saw him thrive in one-day Classics including victories at Liege-Bastogne-Liege in 2018 and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne in 2019.
Jungels has also gone well at Grand Tours in the past, twice securing top 10 finishes at the Giro d'Italia and finishing 11th at the 2018 Tour de France.
Jungels will now head to a new look AG2R team that welcomes aboard new co-sponsor Citreon for the 2021 season. With this increase in budget, the team has begun the process of beefing up its Classics line up with the signing of Van Avermaet from CCC Team alongside retained rider Oliver Naesen.
This trio presents a strong force for the French team at the Classics, where Jungels expects success.
'With riders like Oliver Naesen and Greg Van Avermaet, the team will be very ambitious in the Classics, and it’s very motivating to be part of this group,' said Jungels.
'And of course, we will still be looking at the stage races, since I know that this team has had a strong history in this area. I definitely want to achieve great things, initially in the one-week races, but then also in the Grand Tours, even if I am already well versed in what it takes to perform over three weeks.'
The signings of Van Avermaet and Jungels present a changing of the guard for AG2R as the team also waves goodbye to two of its Grand Tour contending home riders for 2021.
Romain Bardet will depart for Team Sunweb at the end of the year, bringing a close to his nine-year association with the team, while young rider Pierre Latour heads off to Total-Direct Energie.
