Busy coffee stop for London and Surrey cyclists is shut from 8th May for two weeks

Sa Calobra coffee

Cyclists in London and Surrey will no doubt be familiar with, and many will have visited, Giro in Esher. The popular cafe is usually packed full of coffee sipping cyclists every weekend and often in the week, too. Rows of bikes fill the outside area as riders fuel up for a ride into the Surrey Hills or replenish energy levels enough for the final push home.

However, those wanting sustenance over the next couple of weeks will have to look elsewhere as the cafe is closed for refurbishment until at least Sunday 21st May.

With the Giro d'Italia in full swing and the weather (hopefully) brightening up, the timing isn't ideal for those wanting a ride either side of watching a stage.

The cafe looks set to be back up and running for the final week of 2017's first Grand Tour, though, so all's not lost.

An alternative refuelling spot, conveniently located for Box Hill, Ranmore, White Down and climbs further afield is the ever-welcoming Pilgrim Cycles at Box Hill and Westhumble train station.

Or you could always just carry food in your jersey pockets.

The Giro d'Italia will conclude in Milan on Sunday 28th May, where the winner - most likely Nairo Quintana (Movistar) - will be crowned.
