I jump at any chance to cover rock ’n’ roll. But first things first, let’s recap what we’ve been doing at Cyclist.
MTB brand YT launched the Szepter gravel bike, which Will promptly reviewed as being comfortable and capable (my new dating app bio), while we also looked at the Factor Ostro VAM and its potential in being the ultimate all-round race bike.
It’s been bike-mad recently. Ribble launched special editions for their 125th anniversary and we listed which bike brands, groupsets and brakes won the most during Grand Tours in 2022.
Oh, and I covered the men’s 2022 Tour de France route reveal too. Now let’s get into another Extremely Online Round-up before you get an Appetite for Destruction.
Simon Geschke is in Paradise City

In Japan for the Saitama Criterium, Simon Geschke found himself Right Next Door to Hell after realising Guns ’n’ Roses were playing next to his hotel and he didn’t have a ticket. The Cofidis rider has long professed his love of rock ’n’ roll, a list which also contains Daniel Oss.
He realised he Ain’t Going Down without a fight and after some Patience, a One in a Million kind fan helped Geschke secure a ticket to see the band – avoiding some November Rain in his Heartbreak Hotel.

Welcome to the Jungle, Simon. Ain’t it fun?

Elsewhere at the Saitama Criterium, riders such as Jonas Vinegaard, Vincenzo Nibali and Chris Froome were treated to a variety of delights, from appreciating Japanese culture when offered to wear Kimonos, to eating local delicacies and riding with children.

Didi the Devil was also present, a staple sight jumping at the side of Tour de France roads.

There was even time for a candyfloss contest. It’s the little things.
Jasper Philipsen won their eventual… race, ahead of Geraint Thomas and 2022 Tour de France winner Vingegaard.
A Star is Born

Trek-Segafredo’s newest entry in their almost weekly slot in this series involves borrowing a scene from the film A Star is Born.
Featuring one of the best actors in the industry, and also Bradley Cooper, the team superimposes Mads Pedersen’s green Madone onto a scene where The Hangover star tells Lady Gaga to turn around.
I haven’t seen the film, but if it’s anything like Gaga’s performance as the murderous Countess in American Horror Story (and something tells me it isn’t) then sign me up!

How awesome is this? Nice one Rein.
I’d also like to dedicate this section to hopefully brightening up my mum’s stay in hospital. Get well soon! Even though you know this because I already told you. But now you can read it again. Did that work?
See you next week!
