Moots has today launched its latest premium titanium road bike, the Vamoots CRD. Moots says that it’s updated its geometry with the new bike, making it more racy.

The brand has also gone fully integrated with all cables hidden and opted a T47 bottom bracket. The Vamoots CRD is sold with Enve integrated bars and Chris King components, ready to add your choice of finishing parts. At £9,800 for the ‘capsule’ it just might be the most expensive frameset on the market.

Moots describes the Vamoots CRD as a modern racer with fully integrated cabling and room for 30mm tyres. It uses the same 3D printed dropout design first seen on the Vamoots RCS. It’s the first Moots bike to use a T47 bottom bracket rather than a 68mm threaded shell.

T47 is a standard that incorporates the best of threaded bottom brackets, while still accepting a 30mm diameter crank spindle, giving compatibility with a wide range of bottom bracket options, along with the creak-free benefits of a threaded rather than a press-fit bottom bracket interface.

It also allows Moots to offer hidden cable integration through the frame for an ultra-clean look – there’s more room inside a T47 shell than a standard ISO 68mm one.

Moots says that its aim with the Vamoots CRD is to provide the performance of a modern racer, without the cookie-cutter aesthetic of so many modern aero bikes. A bike that can be ridden to the cafe stop or for rough road racing.

We love a quality titanium bike here at Cyclist and there aren’t many as nice as Moots’s. All its bikes are hand-built in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The brand was a pioneer of road-plus bikes and has a reputation for building superb quality frames that will, as we said in our five star review of the Moots Routt RSL gravel bike ‘outlive-yer-grandkids’.

Sold as a ‘capsule’

Moots says that the new bike has been developed as a ‘frameset capsule’, which means that it comes with the latest Enve fully integrated bar and stem, along with a Chris King Aero Set 3 headset and the aforementioned Chris King T47 bottom bracket, both in your choice on colours from Chris King’s range. You also get two Moots bottle cages in the deal.

That means that you just have to choose your own groupset, wheels and saddle to complete your build and ride off into the sunset.

The frame is available in an unusually wide range of sizes: from 48cm up to 62cm in 2cm increments, so there are plenty of options.

If you want a Vamoots CRD, it’s going to be available from April 2023, with UK distribution via Saddleback. Moots says that there’s already a six month lead time if you want to pre-order. Yours for £9,800.
