The 2018 Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 19 will give up to 4,000 young riders the opportunity to try out the popular event. Taking place on the same day as the main sportive and pro men's race, the new event starts at Sandown Park in Esher, Surrey and will cover the same final 19 miles ridden by the later riders.
Crossing South West London before finishing on The Mall, it aims to broaden the appeal of the event beyond its current older and wealthier demographic.
'The Prudential Ride London-Surrey 19 will be a great way of inspiring more people to take to two wheels, and it is going to be a wonderful opportunity for less experienced cyclists to ride through the world’s greatest city on traffic-free roads,' said Sadiq Khan, The Mayor of London, whose own inaction has made everyday riding near-impossible for those very same people.
'Students from my old school are among the first to sign-up and I am sure they will feel a real sense of achievement by taking part,' he added.
Free for children aged 12 to 16, adults accompanying them on the course will have to pay £29. Although 600 discount entries of £10 will also be available to community groups in the boroughs of Surrey and London the event passes through.

With the mid-length Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 offering an intermediate option there are now three different rides to choose from.
Between them, they’ll see almost 100,000 riders taking part before the pros swoop through for the professional men’s race. The women's crit race takes place the evening before.
With the richest prize-pool of any one-day Classic, these are sure to attract a stellar lineup and will see Alexander Kristoff (Katusha–Alpecin) and Kirsten Wild (Wiggle-High5) trying to defend their respective titles.
