Ahead of four mountainous days, Team Sky took the race to their rivals with an emphatic win in the Dauphine team time trial

Team Sky, Team Time Trial, 2015 Tour de France

Team Sky comprehensively won the Stage 3 team time trial at the 2018 Criterium du Dauphine to move Michal Kwiatkowski back into the overall leader. Mitchelton-Scott, the team of previous leader Daryl Impey, finished way down in fourth, 0:56 adrift. This result could rule out Adam Yates's hopes in the General Classisication.

Although on a different course, Stage 3 of the 2018 Tour de France will cover the same distance of 35km in a team time trial and so this is an indication of some of the early time gaps we may see come July.

Despite not being present himself, today's win will have made happy viewing for defending Tour champion Chris Froome as he will need a strong team around him if he's to win yet another Grand Tour.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of this Dauphine stage was the finishing position of Quick-Step Floors in fifth, 1:02 behind the winners.

The Belgian super-team would have been hoping for more and expect to see them doing much better in this discipline at the Tour de France.
