Team Wiggins have announced that British cycling apparel brand Le Col will be co-title sponsor of the team, which will be known as ‘Team Wiggins Le Col’, for the 2019 season.
Le Col, founded by ex-professional cyclist Yanto Barker was kit supplier to the team during the 2018 season. Barker set up Le Col in 2011, and now runs the company full-time after his retirement in 2016.
'A chance to further help a professional developmental team in British cycling is an amazing opportunity for Le Col, and a long-term goal for myself,' said Barker.
'Le Col is now committed to helping Team Wiggins Le Col with more resources to aid this young and talented team full of British riders.'
This year was a successful season for the team, with Gabriel Cullaigh taking two stage wins at the Volta ao Alentejo as well as the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic. Mark Donovan won a stage of the Giro delle Valle d’Aosta before riding as a stagiaire for Team Sky.
'I’m delighted that Le Col has increased its commitment in working with Team Wiggins Le Col,' said team founder Sir Bradley Wiggins.
'This has been a hard year for the domestic professional race scene and for Team Wiggins Le Col to be heading in the opposite direction from that, it’s great to see.
'I’ve known Yanto for a long time and I know how much focus and passion he has for cycling and creating the very best apparel for the sport,' he added.
'As a former pro, I know he just gets it and that’s why everyone at Team Wiggins Le Col is delighted to have the brand become the team’s co-title sponsor for the 2019 season.'
