Tao Geoghegan Hart will be given the opportunity to lead Team Ineos at the Vuelta a Espana after crashing out the Giro d'Italia earlier in the year as Geraint Thomas skips the race to focus on the World Championships in Yorkshire.
The London-born climber will share General Classification responsibilities with Dutch super-domestique Wout Poels at the race that starts with a team time trial in Torrevieja on Saturday 24th August.
Geoghegan Hart was handed joint leadership at the Giro in May, alongside Pavel Sivakov, but was forced to abandon on Stage 13 after a crash.
He will now be afforded a second opportunity to race for General Classification in a year at the Grand Tour he made his debut at 12 months ago.
Poels will also be supported in his GC ambitions as the Limburg native looks to back up yet another Tour de France in which he helped guide his team leader, this time Egan Bernal, to the yellow jersey.
The last time 31-year-old raced the Vuelta was 2017. He eventually finished sixth overall while supporting teammate Chris Froome to the title.
Speculation surrounded Thomas's Vuelta participation after his missed out on winning the Tour to teammate Bernal but the Welshman is opting to skip the Spanish race to focus on preparations for the time trial World Championships in Yorkshire next month.
Joining Geoghegan Hart in a strong British contingent will be Classics specialist Ian Stannard and 26-year-old Owain Doull who makes his Grand Tour debut.
Sebastian Henao will provide support in the mountains, as will Frenchman Kenny Ellisonde.
Salvatore Puccio will assume the likely role of road captain while the team is completed by former time trial World Champion and Grand Tour veteran Vasil Kiryenka.
The team will be looking to win a second Grand Tour for 2019 and a third Vuelta title in the team's history after Froome's triumphs in 2011 and 2017.
