
Following the launch of the Shimano S-Phyre performance footwear range n 2016, the Japanese brand has added cycling clothing to its offering.
The Shimano S-Phyre race clothing has been designed, the company says, with the aim of 'maximising power transmission by delivering more performance per gram, cheating the air, and using the linkage effect to create efficiencies.'

Further to this, Shimano has worked to reduce the watts riders lose to drag, friction and overheating.
Thanks to the company's pedigree in component manufacture it has worked to 'apply linkage and movement principles in a complete system between the bike, the body and the motion of its muscles.'
The clothing certainly looks the part, but the shoes remain the standout part of the range. The new clothing includes jerseys, bib shorts, skinsuits, gloves and socks, along with the pre-existing shoes.

Language around the launch about performance points to Shimano's increased involvement with professional cycling.
For the 2017 season, WorldTour team LottoNL-Jumbo will be racing in Shimano S-Phyre custom clothing and footwear, and will continue to race on their Shimano Dura-Ace equipped Bianchi bikes.
